Trump greenlights a bloody invasion of US Syrian Kurd Allies, hands a hard fought US strategic position over to Turks, Russians, Syrian dictator Assad and Iran. Let's not even talk of an ISIS resurgence.
Do not re-elect Donald Trump.
This is worse than the Mexicans not paying for the border wall. It's is not an idiotic plan. It is an idiot's action. We're talking about an invasion and attack on the trusted Kurdish US allies and People, who played a crucial role in fighting the ISIS islamic fanatics alongside US troops with US/European air support.
To be clear: the Kurds are the one and foremost Good Guys in this whole Middle Eastern mess. And Trump's admin suddenly turns around and calls the Kurdish allies "terrorists" to the south of Turkey. And where did he get that?
Form Turkish president Erdogan.
Trump said of the Kurds in Syria, "Why would I give a fuck?". And none of his inner or outer circle could convince him.
How could this happen? Here it is:
Erdogan of Turkey does not like the Kurds. Never mind if they are Turkish Kurds, Armenian Kurds, Iranian Kurds, Iraqi Kurds, or, in this case, Syrian Kurds. That's because this People's ancient nation, Kurdistan, at one time covered a part of Turkey, and parts of those other countries. Erdogan is paranoid. He doesn't care that the Kurds have been, and remain the crucial force battling, and to great extent defeating ISIS, with help from the US and other allied countries.
Trump has a scheduled phone call with Erdogan. Immediately thereafter Trump announces and starts a surprise removal of US troops in the Syrian-Turkish border area, who are holding it safe, together with large number of Syrian Kurdish allies. Trump says he expects Turkey to invade the Syrian border area, now held by abandoned Syrian Kurdish allies. Criticized for his action, he then tweets "... if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!)...". Turkey gives Trump the finger. It crosses the border, attacks the Syrian Kurd allies, death and destruction, ethnic cleansing. Then Trump says it isn't his doing. While his admin Pompeo now matches Turkish Erdogan's tagline, saying the Kurds are "terrorists to their south". Unbelievable, but this is actually, really happening. Appalling.
By the way, "As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate"... Yes, you dummy actually forgot to mention that to Erdogan, didn't you? While everyone around you said you should give hime a strong warning not to invade Syria. Fool.
And then: "in my great and unmatched wisdom" WTF? You're the Wizard of Oz now? This is supposed to impress the Turks?
Let's just note, it is reported that there were just a few dozen (50-100) US Army Special Forces with some equipment in the area. They weren't fighting anyone. Instead they were part of a buffer zone, a general guarantee against a Turkish attack on the Syrian border area and the Syrian Kurdish People living there. Just removing that small number of soldiers then opened an entire border to Turkish invasion of Syria, the area of the Syrian Kurdish People, US Allies. Insane. Who in their right mind would do such a thing?
Why on earth would you drop the ball mid-game, abandon your team-mates, and give away a crucial strategic position in shaping this region to the interest of the US, and your European allies?
If you really wanted to get those few soldiers out, why didn't you have them replaced by UN soldiers beforehand? Oh yes, right, you don't like the UN. Or other western allies? No? You could have discussed it with your good pal Vladimir. He would have gladly supplied a few dozen troops to replace the US Special Forces. Now he has to do it after the fact of a Turkish invasion. Oh my. Trump. Idiot.
Drain the swamp. Trump first. Off to the looney bin. The sooner the better.
After the first blunder, according to Trump, it's OK to abandon these US Allies because "they didn't help us in the second world war, they didn't help us in Normandy". This is on of the dumbest statements, and foulest excuses the man as ever made. Note: Since the Kurds aren't a nation state, there could not have been a "Kurdish division" supporting the Allies. The Kurds were fighting under their home country's flags, and mostly on Allied side. In the meantime, the Kurds still aren't a nation state, but they are better organized.
It also doesn't seem to register with Dumb Trump that Kurds in Iraq formed the bulk of the northern front against Saddam in the 2004 Iraq war, and that they are the main force fighting the ISIS islamic fanatics in the Middle East, losing 11,000 soldiers.
In fact it was Turkey that did not help one bit. Turkey was aligned with the Nazis in the second world war, and did not directly participate in the fight against ISIS fanatics in its neighboring countries.
Instead, after the Syrian Kurds drove ISIS out, Turkey now does attack Syra, in the territory of the Syrian Kurds.
Dumb Trump, your biggest blunder yet. For everyone to see. A whole People, your Allies to suffer. An expensive strategic position lost. The western world is shaking its head in disgust.
