US Election 2016: The Green Socialist

Created by janroe

The US 2016 election's top five presidential candidates in a nutshell, with voting advice. We deal with each candidate separately. This helps avoid mixing up the issues: The "Democratic Socialist", the "Green Socialist", the "Corporate Plutarchist", the "Libertarian Oligopolist", and the "National Vulgarist".

The Green Socialist

Ms Jill Stein (Green Party) Jill Stein's name is likely to be on your voting ballot, but mainstream media have completely failed to cover her campaign. In the meantime, she is and remains valiantly vocal. She is not just a realistic candidate, she is an excellent candidate.

Green

Green, because the candidate stands for large-scale job creation through transition to renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and conservation, leading climate change action, labelling GMOs and banning pesticides and GMOs that have not been proven safe.

Socialist

Socialist, because the party and the candidate are actual real people, representing "the people" with a platform that is named "Our Power to the People Plan". The point is, they really mean it, and they have a feasible plan to get it done.

Real Change

The Green Socialist and the Green Party are not entangled in the stranglehold that large corporations and the financial system have on the democratic, republican and libertarian parties. That places this candidate and her party into the unique position to bring about real change.

Characteristics

In a nutshell, the Green Socialist is Bernie Sanders on steroids. The issues, platform and implementation goals are well formulated, organized, detailed and very clear. I suggest to go to Jill Stein's web site and have good look there. Here is short summary: The platform calls for immediate climate action, creating "millions of jobs" in transition to renewable energy, public transit, sustainable agriculture, and conservation; jobs, health care and education "as a right", support to worker representation (unions); end poverty, ensure civil liberties, freedom, equality and justice, cut wars and military spending, break up big banks and replace with local public cooperative banks, nationalize the federal reserve, make the rich pay their share of taxes, set 15$ minimum wage, replace corporate trade agreements with fair trade agreements, label GMOs, ban GMOs and pesticides until proven safe, abolish corporate personhood, enact electoral reforms such as public campaign financing, ranked-choice voting, proportional representation, open debates, and protect the rights of future generations. Note that the term "as a right" is a social and civil concept in which the public sector, the state /government, is responsible that individuals can exercise that particular right. In the Green Socialist's platform this means that the state /government must establish certain systems to guarantee that all individuals can have a job, receive healthcare, and an education. When something is not "a right", it depends on the "free market system" (which is not free), private businesses to provide it (for profit), the state /government preference to support it or not support it, and your individual ability to attain or pay for it. This makes the Green Socialist directly opposed to the "Libertarian Oligopolist" who strives for maximum "free market" freedom, dismantling public services and state /government systems. The "Corporate Plutarchist" won't go as far as declaring jobs, health and education "a right", while the "National Vulgarist" would simply be at a loss in trying to understand any of these concepts. Jill Stein appears as a well-informed, powerful lady who does not shun a confrontation. She was a presidential candidate in 2012, receiving fairly little attention at the time. The Green Socialist candidate and her party are factually expanding the Democratic Socialist's political revolution - and they a very good, electable alternative. Jaramu Baraka, her running mate, is an experienced human rights representative. He is, however, prone to extreme statements, such as the Paris "Je suis Charlie" slogan being an "arrogant rallying cry for white supremacy". Among others. Not sure how that would go down when trying to function as a Vice-President. To be honest, I'm puzzled by this choice of running mate.

Voting Advice

For the voting recommendation comparisons to other candidates may be in order. Vote for this candidate, if you are looking for real change. Jill Stein is a feisty and sane candidate with a politically revolutionary, well formulated program. Vote for this candidate as a direct alternative to the Democratic Socialist because she incorporates his revolutionary platform and more. Vote for this candidate if if you wish to break the stranglehold of runaway capitalism and the financial system on the democratic, republican and libertarian parties. Vote for this candidate and her party if you lament the absence of a third party that actually represents the people instead of the money. You can make this your third party. If "Green Socialism" is all too new to you, that's completely understandable. Give them some serious consideration anyway. http://www.jill2016.com http://www.gp.org Jill Stein Appeared on Fox News - 2016-07-12 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECH9xwzN1Mw Permalink: http://www.janroe.com/us-election-2016-the-green-socialist
