US Election 2016: The Corporate Plutarchist

Created by janroe

The US 2016 election's top five presidential candidates in a nutshell, with voting advice. We deal with each candidate separately. This helps avoid mixing up the issues: The "Democratic Socialist", the "Green Socialist", the "Corporate Plutarchist", the "Libertarian Oligopolist", and the "National Vulgarist".

The Corporate Plutarchist

Ms Hillary Clinton

Corporate

Corporate, because regardless of a democratic label her party and her actions are bound by the interests of the financial establishment and large corporations. That's also her speech circuit, and she's not publicizing what she's been orating there. In other words, despite an apparently sensible platform and new approaches etc. etc. she embodies the existing system. Corporate profits over people.

Plutarchist

The Corporate Plutarchist is easily identified as an elite family member. Plutarchist, because she represents the wealthy, ruling elite, the 1%. She is not familiar, nor can she adequately represent society's lower and middle income segments, that is "the People". Improvements that she promises will be incremental. That said, she does represent the party that has traditionally championed the interests the US population's middle and lower classes.

Characteristics

The Corporate Plutarchist appears as a capable leader and has experience in and out of the White House. Going through the Corporate Plutarchist's platform most of the issues are shown in a kind of shopping list and don't appear to be organized in an all-encompassing programmatic approach. The issues and solutions appear very reasonable and positive. Yet it is easy to get the impression that you've seen a lot of this before, without real change. The Corporate Plutarchist and her party appear to have taken on a number of issues raised by the Democratic Socialist after he conceded his loss with 45.6% of the democratic popular vote. I highly recommend you to have a look at the Corporate Plutarchist's platform. Some highlights (status 9 September 2016): Restore tax fairness. Fight to strengthen the labor movement and to protect worker bargaining power. Reject the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement. Protect retirement security. Preserve and strengthen Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. A "bold" climate change plan. Protect immigrants’ rights, equal rights, racial justice. Restore voting rights. Campaign finance reform. Dismantle global terrorism networks together with allies. A plan to defeat ISIS. A plan for gun violence prevention. Ending mass incarceration. National security, working with allies and the military essentially remain as they are. Wall street reform looks a lot like reforms promised earlier which did not take hold. The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) trade agreement is rejected for stifling wages and quality job creation, not as the broad "corporate coup" that it represents. But yes, rejected. Students with current loans will still need to pay them back. Refinancing and low interests may temporarily ease some pain, but will not actually solve the problem for current debtors. Not mentioned is a thorough election reform, a thorough reform of the financial and banking system, taking "profit making" out public banking, reducing insane CEO salaries and unreasonable corporate profit taking, de-privatizing of essential public services, improving housing and mortgages, reigning in vast internet privacy erosion, undoing the erosion of civil liberties, repealing the Patriot Act, reducing police brutality, legalizing hemp, enhancing proper nutrition, controlling GMOs, banning unsafe pesticides, reducing enormous waste, reducing nuclear weapons, have allies comply with human rights and UN decisions ... Matters that opponents like to harp on like "Benghazi" (regrettable, but these things do happen) or "Emails" (unwise, let's forget it) are pointless and don't serve any real purpose.

Voting Advice

Vote for this candidate. Unless your preference goes to the Green Socialist. Vote for the Green Socialist if you wish to break the stranglehold that runaway capitalism and the financial system have on the democratic, republican and libertarian parties. She is a capable candidate who inherently represents the actual needs of "the People" and goes dramatically further. Update: My earlier voting advice was "Do not vote for this candidate". In the meantime a number of issues and solutions offered by the "Democratic Socialist" have been taken up in her agenda. My modified advice is above. https://www.hillaryclinton.com https://www.democrats.org Permalink: http://www.janroe.com/us-election-2016-the-corporate-plutarchist
